Whalen-Kay
A lovely winter wedding was solemnized on Saturday, January 5th, when Miss Marjorie Ann Kay, daughter of Mrs. Howard Kay and the late Mr. Howard Kay of Youngstown, N.Y. became the bride of Mr. Kendall C. Whalen of Sackets Harbor, N.Y. The wedding took place before the immediate families at 11:30 AM in the rectory of Saint Peter’s church in Lewiston, N.Y. with the Rev. James A. Lanigann officiating.
The bride was lovely in a simple white satin gown made on princess lines with long train. The sweetheart neckline was outlined in a band of seed pearls and the tight sleeves were pointed over the wrists. The fingertip veil of illusion was caught in a coronet of orange blossom clusters. She carried a sheaf of white carnations and gardenias.
She was attended by her sister, Miss Joan Kay, in bouffant styled dusty rose taffeta with a silver sequin Juliet cap. She carried a sheaf of blush pink gladiola tips.
The best man was the bridegroom’s brother, Mr. Clifford Whalen, of Sackets Harbor.
The mother of the bride wore a black crepe satin gown with draped front, a black hat with white feathers and a corsage of gardenias. The sister of the bridegroom, Mrs. Charles Hyde of Watertown, N.Y., was attired in a gray ensemble with black accessories and a corsage of gardenias.
A reception was held following the ceremony at the home of the bride on Second Street, Youngstown. The color scheme of yellow and white was carried out with bouquets of yellow and white mums. A buffet luncheon was served from a lace covered table with a four tiered wedding cake topped by a miniature bride and bridegroom.
The couple left on a short wedding trip, the bride traveling in a costume of a winter white wool dress with hat to match and a black coat with silver fox collar. Among the out-of-town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hyde and Mrs. Charles Hyde of Watertown. Guests were also present from Lewiston, Niagara Falls, Buffalo, and Ashtabula, Ohio.

What a wonderful photo of your mother and father! Lovely write-up too. So fun to read about these milestones in our family history. THANKS FOR SHARING!
My mother, Sarah Stoddard Kimmett Burnham, told us that she had introduced Marge and Kendall to each other. Did your mother ever say anything that might corroborate that?
Oh yes, she did! In fact I wrote about that when I posted on their anniversary in 2019.
